Built behind a real counter
Praisin started as the tool one small shop needed and could not find.
AZOURANE is a small cosmetics shop in Sarajevo. It sells Moroccan beauty products online and over its own counter, where customers can smell a bottle before they buy it. Its founder, Hussam Aitelqadi, comes from the Souss, in southern Morocco.
Most AZOURANE customers pay the courier in cash when the parcel arrives. Most of them talk on Viber and WhatsApp, and many never open a marketing email. They loved the products and told their friends. They rarely told the product page.
The review apps Hussam tried were made for a different shop: one where the card is charged at checkout, the inbox gets read every morning and everyone speaks English. They asked before the parcel had arrived, in the wrong language, on the wrong channel. The email app was a second bill with a second customer list.
So he built his own. One app that asks when the parcel is really delivered, puts the stars inside the message, keeps a half written review safe, speaks the customer's language and runs the emails from the same customer record. Then he opened it to every Shopify shop and called it Praisin.
Why a raisin?
Praise, plus a raisin. Small, sweet, a little wrinkled from hard work, and very good at getting people to say nice things about you. It rhymes with raisin, too.
